Information for prospective new members

If you are interested in joining the club, please read the following.

The Oz-E-Rodders Rod and Kustom Club (OER) welcomes new members, however there are some things that prospective new members need to be aware of.

Oz-E-Rodders is an Internet community of enthusiasts who own or are building Hot Rods and / or Customs.

OER defines a Hot Rod as a vehicle which has been manufactured before 1949, or, after 1948 to resemble a pre 1949 vehicle having major components such as body, doors, bonnet, grille shell, chassis etc. designed and built to interchange with pre 1949 components.

A Custom is defined as a vehicle which has been manufactured before 1965, or after 1949 to resemble a pre 1965 vehicle having major components such as body, doors, bonnet, grille shell, chassis etc. designed and built to interchange with pre 1965 components.

It is important to OER that its members actively participate in club business, which is conducted online.  OER’s online Club house sits in behind the Ozrodders forum and is only accessible to OER members.

As OER is an internet based Club, the majority of interaction between members is done in the Clubs online club room, which enable members to participate in Club meetings, share information on the construction and maintenance of their cars and have general social interactions with each other.

Like most Clubs, OER has a process for the admission of new members.

Traditional clubs usually require a prospective new member to satisfy various criteria, such as, attend a number of meetings and a number of events, after which the existing club members will vote on whether or not to accept the prospective member.  All club’s reserve the right to refuse membership and OER is no different

OER has similar requirements for the admission of prospective new members, however, as OER is an online club, the only way it can do this is via the OzRodders forum.  By joining the OzRodders forum and contributing to the threads, the Club will get an idea about prospective new member from their contributions to the forum and be able to determine whether or not they would be a suitable member of OER.

Importantly, OER is concerned with potential members who simply wish to become a member of the club to gain access to one of the various State / Territory conditional registration schemes, and then not participate in Club business and online activities, in other words, become a silent member.

OER has worked hard to maintain access for its members to the various conditional registration schemes in all States and territories and it is not prepared to jeopardise the good relationships established.

Once an applicant has been accepted as a member of the club, there is a probation period of 6 months during which time the Club will assess whether or not the new member is genuine and prepared to be an active member, or are just using OER to gain registration in their respective state / Territory.  If this is the case determined by a lack of both forum and OER club site participation, membership may be refused at the end of the probationary period.
